Broker & Agency Manager
Mid States Agencies
Laura Rix was born and raised in St. Louis and grew up in the health insurance industry where deductibles and premiums were kitchen table talk. After graduating with a dual masters from Washington University in social work and business management, she worked for various nonprofits in fundraising and development. It was during this time that she learned the value of insurance, even in unlikely places like events, volunteers, and nonprofit organizations. Then, in 2012 she went full circle and joined her dad in the insurance industry where he brought Rick Benz and Laura together to open Mid-States Agencies, a full-service property and casualty insurance brokerage.
Since then, she has helped the agency continue to grow with over 70+ carriers and 30 agents, who each specialize in their own specialty markets.
